Sunway is a special type of boutique hotel. Its small size, exceptional location, elegant design, charming range of luxury accommodation (honeymoon suites, maisonettes, and studios) and professional operation result in a rare blend of intimate and personalized service offered against a setting of unique physical beauty.
In Aguas Calientes and Machu Picchu you will find two very marked seasons, the dry season (winter) and the rainy season (summer). Prepare your luggage according to the season in which you will visit this area.
If you will be traveling during the rainy season (between December and April), do not forget to pack:
- Waterproof coat and umbrella: Take them with you even if it is a sunny day, as the weather can be very unpredictable.
- Hiking shoes: Take comfortable shoes on your hikes, and make sure they can withstand rain and puddles.
- Insect repellent: Indispensable, especially when visiting Machu Picchu Mountain and Huayna Picchu.
Before going out to enjoy your tour, check the weather forecast to dress appropriately. It is a good idea to always carry a plastic rain poncho with you, as it can get you out of more than one trouble.
If you are traveling during the dry season (between May and November), don’t forget to pack:
- Comfortable clothes: Although this area is naturally warmer, don’t forget to pack a few extra changes of clothes, you may need them later.
Hat and sunscreen: There will be few places to find shade in Machu Picchu, let alone the hikes up Machu Picchu Mountain and Huayna Picchu!
Trekking shoes: Remember that many of the floors in Machu Picchu are made of stone, so it may be best to leave your high heels at home.
And above all, don’t hesitate to ask your travel agent if you should add anything else to your luggage, especially if you will be taking any trekking or adventure sports.
